Learn how to control your bike and ride safer, better and faster than you ever have before. Steve Baker and Samantha Smith (Certified IMBA, NICA and USA Cycling Coaches & Instructors) have over 30 years of bicycle riding and racing experience, and they are passionate about sharing their knowledge with others. They have developed a proven curriculum that helps riders on every level ride better on any bicycle. You may be able to ride a bike already, but we’ll teach you how to handle and control that bicycle better than you ever have before!
During this extensive skills and drills clinic, you will gain confidence and learn the fundamental skills that are used by every top-level cyclist and triathlete. We will try to push the envelope and get you outside your comfort zone in a very controlled manner that helps minimize fear while maximizing fun. This class helps everyone with their riding skills regardless of their ability level. The drills are scalable based on ability and they help everyone. I promise you will be a better and more confident bike rider and triathlete following this extensive skills clinic session, and we will have a little fun in the process. Riders should come prepared for a normal ride with bicycles, helmets, clothing, shoes and water bottles. Road, hybrid and triathlon bikes welcome. We recommend that you bring tennis shoes, if you want to participate without clipping in to your pedals.
We’re limiting this day to 30 people so we can maximize personal instruction and facilitate effective learning. If we get more wanting to participate than that, we’ll do it again soon.
Please register online to participate.
Road, Triathlon and Hybrid bicycles are appropriate for this clinic. No mountain bikes please. We will host a mountain bike specific skills clinic soon. Most participants learn better on the bike they ride all the time. We will be using a grass field for most of the drills to minimize risk to body and bike. Some riders prefer to use their training wheels for the clinic. We will not ask you to do anything you don’t want to do, but we will ask you to challenge yourself.
Questions should be directed to Steve Baker at firstname.lastname@example.org or Samantha Smith at email@example.com
Cancellation Policy: No refunds will be given, but we will work with individuals to postpone participation into a future event if necessary. In the event of inclement weather that forces us to delay, we will choose an alternative date for the event. We will make every effort possible to host this event as scheduled.
Venue: Gateway Park
Located in the heart of Travelers Rest behind Sunrift Adventures, Gateway Park has tennis courts, athletic fields (including baseball), playground, and a flow park provided by SORBA.
