The GHS Kids Splash and Dash is a fun way for kids ages 3-16 to get a taste of multi-sport competition without the pressure of a full triathlon. The event features a pool swim followed by a cross country run. Our focus is on encouraging participation and getting kids of all ages active. All pre-registered competitors will receive a race packet, t-shirt and finishers medal.

Distances: Race distances vary based on participants age.

Age 3-5: 25yd Swim / 1/4 mile Run (see special conditions below)

Age 6-8: 50m Swim / 1.5k Run

Age 9-11: 100m Swim / 1.5k Run

Age 12-16: 200m Swim / 3k Run

Special Conditions for Age 3-5:

Participants ages 3-5 are required to wear a coastguard approved life vest and be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the pool. A limited number of life vests will be available on a first come first serve basis. We strongly encourage you to bring your own life preserver.

Body Marking:

All participants will have a race number marked on their arms and legs by our staff and volunteers. Each participant will have their age marked on the back of their leg.

Swim Course:

Participants will swim in the newly renovatedWestsideAquaticCenterpools. Kids will start one at a time at 5 second intervals. Kids will swim up one lane and upon reaching the wall, will switch to the next lane going back the other way. This will be a zigzag pattern across the pool until their swim finish. Flip turns are allowed. No wetsuits are allowed.

Run Course:

Participants will exit the pool and proceed to a transition area to change to their running shoes and put on their race bib number. Race bib numbers must be worn for the run portion of the event. The cross country run will take place on theWestsideAquaticCenterproperty in a protected area where we can control vehicle traffic. The course features a mixture of grass, dirt road and pavement.

The event will be chip timed by Set Up Events, the premier timing company in the Upstate. Each participant must wear a timing chip for the duration of the race or he/she will not receive a timed result. All timing chips must be returned immediately following the finish. There will be volunteers collecting chips at the finish line, but returning the chip is ultimately the responsibility of each participant.

Volunteer Assistance:

Safety is our first priority. Event volunteers will be on hand to help encourage and direct participants and families on race day. If you or your group would like to volunteer your assistance, please contact the race director at stevebaker864@gmail.com.
