GHS Kids Splash & Dash
Description: The GHS Kids Splash & Dash Event is a fun way for kids ages 3-11 to get a taste of multi-sport competition without the pressure of a full triathlon. The event features a pool swim followed by a cross country run. Our focus is on encouraging participation and getting kids of all ages active. All pre-registered competitors will receive a finisher’s medal and a free lunch.

Race Start: 10:00am (first swimmer starts at 10:00am, then by assigned start times)
Entry Fee: $15 per person ($25 per person after pre-registration deadline) per race
Onsite registration will open at 8am on race day.
Age/Distances: Race distances vary based on participants age.

Special Conditions for Age 3-5: Participants ages 3-5 are required to wear a coastguard approved life vest and be accompanied by a parent or guardian in the pool. A limited number of life vests will be available on a first come first serve basis. We strongly encourage you to bring your own life preserver.
Start Times: First swimmer starts at 9:30am. Start times will be assigned by age group and posted at the event. Start times will also be provided to pre-registered participants via email on Thursday prior to the event.
Body Marking: All participants will have a race number marked on their arms and legs by our staff and volunteers. Each participant will have their age marked on the back of their leg.
Swim Course: Participants will swim in the pool. Kids will start one at a time at 5 second intervals. Kids will swim up one lane and upon reaching the wall, will switch to the next lane going back the other way. This will be a zigzag pattern across the pool until their swim finish. Participants are permitted to walk on the bottom or hold onto the lane rope if necessary. Life preservers are permitted for everyone and required for ages 3-5. Flip turns are allowed. No wetsuits are allowed.
Run Course: Participants will exit the pool and proceed to a transition area to change to their running shoes and put on their race bib number. Race bib numbers must be worn for the run portion of the event. The cross country run will take place on facility property in a protected area where we can control vehicle traffic. The course features a mixture of grass, dirt and pavement. All participants must wear shoes that fasten securely to their feet during the run. No flipflops or sandals will be permitted during the run.
Timing: The event will be electronically chip timed by Its About Time. All participants must wear the provided chip and their race number during the run. Chip instructions will be provided at packet pick up. Chips should be fastened to participant’s shoe. Numbers may be fastened to shirt/top or to a belt worn by participant.
