March 30, 2014
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Participants/Supporters, It looks like we are going to experience a considerable amount of rain and thunderstorms on Saturday, March 29 for the Cyclebration at Gateway Park in Travelers Rest, SC. Sunday’s forecast is looking awesome with sunny skies and temperatures in the 60’s. After careful consideration and discussion about the impending storms on Saturday, we have decided that it is better for everyone involved if we postpone the 70-mile, 40-mile and 10-mile Cyclebration road rides from Saturday, March 29 to Sunday March 30 @ 2pm.
All Cyclebration road rides will now leave Gateway Park at 2pm on Sunday. Please consider your speed when deciding what course to ride Sunday, as we will have about 5 hours of daylight to enjoy the rides. Please ride the 40 mile ride if you don’t have enough time to complete the 70 mile ride. Mountain Bike activities on Saturday and Sunday will not be affected by this change and will be hosted at the published times and locations. We know we can’t please everyone when we have to postpone events for inclement weather, but it does seem like this action will result in much more enjoyable road rides for those that can make the adjustment. We sincerely apologize to anyone that finds the new event time of Sunday, March 30 @ 2pm inconvenient. You are welcome you to contact me personally with any comments or questions. I do hope all of you can join us on Sunday at 2pm for the Cyclebration road rides. Please help us communicate this to everyone quickly.

The GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail is one of the most popular destinations for Upstate bicyclists. On March 29, 2014 we are hosting the 2nd Annual Swamp Rabbit Trail Cyclebration to raise awareness and funding for future improvements and expansions of this growing trail network. Multiple distance rides will leave Gateway Park in Travelers Rest for riders of every level. The scenic 70 and 40 mile routes will wind their way through the beautiful farms and forests of Northern Greenville County, while the longer route climbs the Greenville Watershed. Both take you past the charming North Greenville University campus and feature rest stops at the picturesque Hotel Domestique and Vineyard. The 10 mile family fun ride will head south on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to Swamp Rabbit Station and return. There is a slightly longer option to view the beautiful lake at Furman University. The Pump Track Jam will give BMX and mountain bike riders the chance to show off for the crowd on the newly renovated pump track at Gateway Park. Additional MTB activities will be announced soon. Overall, there will be fun for the whole family with great riding, activities and food.
